? I really liked
Wings by Aprilynne Pike, all with a fresh perspective on faeries. So now, you should expect some fan art of Laurel and David/Tamani coming up. Keep a lookout!
I'm sorry I haven't been on in at least three weeks now. High school is getting pretty busy, and to add to that, I will have an upcoming Christmas concert next month. Plus, I have a new story going in my mind, about Chloe Phoenix (a different version of Chloe, MIND YOU!), a fourteen-year-old girl who discovers she's a mermaid. There are four different magical races, she finds out: mermaids, dryads, wind spirits, and dragons. Look at the descriptions below, and see who you are!
Mermaids/Mermen (Called the Mer; language is called Mervanh - sounds like a cross of German and Latin)
Appearance: Typically very black or very light hair; sea green, sapphire blue, or royal purle eyes; a little below average in height; thin and muscular
Strengths/Interests: Swimming, diving, archery, dagger-throwing or hand-to-hand combat with daggers
Abilities: Can change from human to mermaid and vice versa with a short personal incantation in Mervanh
General manner: Extremely clumsy on land but beautifully graceful in water
General character: Intelligent, extremely sensitive and perceptive, compassionate, loyal, stubborn, easily excited, emotional, rash
Dryads (Called the Drya; language is called Rydé - sounds like a cross of Arabic and Hindi)
Appearance: Typically chocolate brown or caramel brown hair; sage green, emerald green, or hazel/amber/chocolate brown eyes; usually quite taller than average; thin and willowy or thin and muscular, depending on your tree
Strengths/Interests: Fencing, gardening, tree-climbing
Abilities: Can change from human to tree and vice versa with a silent spell
General manner: Graceful on land
General character: DEPENDS ON YOUR TREE! Willows are graceful, calm, fluid, and soothing, and they can think clearly even in tense situations. Oaks, elms, and pines use their physical strength to protect others, and they are solid as rocks through emotional storms. Apple, peach, and cherry trees tend to be a little more hyper and youngish-looking; they can be jumpy if they want to, but other dryads are calmer than most people.
Wind spirits (Called the Vehn; language is called Zehp - sounds like a cross of Gaelic and Viking)
Appearance: Typically light blonde to very light brown hair, or very rarely dark smoky black; silver, grey, light blue, slate blue, or golden eyes; usually average height; skinny and nimble
Strengths/Interests: Running, archery
Abilities: Can turn invisible by holding breath
General manner: Swift and silent; deadly at night; a terror when invisible
General character: DEPENDS on your cardinal direction! The Borvehn from the North are light-haired and light-eyed, and they tend to be less emotional and more rational than other people, and they follow directions beautifully. They run the fastest. The Notovehn from the South have smoky black hair and are very rare, almost extinct. They run almost just as fast as the Borvehn, and their endurance is the most admirable; they are a terror with the bow. The Euvehn from the West with dark blonde hair are very sad and quiet, and they tend to be wet blankets, but they are surprisingly staunch through the toughest situations, though they are the least favored among the four Vehn. Lastly, the Zevehn from the West, who have the light brown hair, are the most emotional of the Vehn you can get. They tend to be a little sensitive at times, unless raised otherwise, and their feelings of love are easily awakened.
Dragons (Called the Pyrsper; language is called Rashpeh - sounds very unique and a little harsh)
Appearance: Typically flaming red or auburn hair; dark brown, black, or fiery hazel eyes; usually above average height; medium to heavy build and very muscular
Strengths/Interests: Ice hockey, wrestling, swordsmanship, basically beating up everyone
Abilities: Can turn from human to dragon and vice versa with a word in Prysper and a deep breath; can fly gracefully; can breathe fire (or ice, very very rarely)
General manner: Can be mistaken for the school bully; not very graceful on land but beautiful on wings in the air
General character: Most dragons are fire dragons. They are fiery, hot-tempered, and loyal unto death. They take their family honor and bonds very seriously, and they never forget to pay debts, whether good or bad. They can make decisions a little too quickly when they are angry, but if they hold councils, they usually reach the best decision. The ice dragons, who are EXTREMELY rare - about one or two found each winter - are distinguised by their ICE BLUE eyes with their red hair instead of the usual color. They are not quite as stocky as fire dragons when in human form, but they are the most powerful kind. When they breathe ice, they can freeze a whole city. In this way, they can sometimes even control time, though it takes great effort and may kill an unskilled ice dragon in the process. Generally, all dragons like ice hockey to cool off when they're mad (which they often are).
So! Which are YOU? I found that I'm mostly a mermaid. Not all descriptions may fit you, but pick the one you like best!
Oh, and I'm going to stay for two overnights with my sis in her dorm! Whoo-hoo!
